Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a Party Wall Notice?

Possibly, if the work affects a party structure, involves a new wall on or near the boundary, or requires qualifying excavation close to a neighbour.

Can my neighbour stop the project?

A dissent does not ordinarily prevent lawful work. It activates the statutory dispute-resolution procedure and may require an Award.

Who pays the surveyor fees?

The Building Owner normally pays reasonable fees arising from works undertaken for their benefit.

How early should I seek advice?

As early as possible, ideally while drawings and construction details are still being finalised.
